Recruitment form
What iMM seeks: At this moment, iMM is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the Biology of Parasitism
Laboratory coordinated by Luisa Figueiredo, under the research project “Mechanism and function of epitranscriptomic poly(A) tail modifications in African trypanosomes” (TRYPM6A – HR20-00361), funded by “La Caixa” foundation, under the supervision of Professors Luisa Figueiredo and Claus Maria Azzalin:
In the last decade, RNA modifications have been identified as key players in regulation of gene expression. By studying an ancient organism (Trypanosoma brucei), the Figueiredo lab discovered that poly(A) tails can be methylated and modulate messenger RNA stability (Viegas I. et al., Nature, 2022). The goal of this project is to investigate the biotechnological applications of this finding in mammalian cells. The Azzalin laboratory has extensive experience in RNA biology applied to mammalian cells.
