Join us for the next “Out of Our Box” seminar, taking place online, on Thursday, June 27, at 4 pm. It’s a great pleasure to host Matteo Farinella, who will tell us about “Communicating Science with Visuals”.

Matteo holds a PhD in Neuroscience from University College London, and combines his scientific expertise with a passion for drawing to create engaging comics, illustrations, and animations that make science more accessible. Currently a Science Multimedia Producer at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute, Matteo’s work was included in Scientific American’s best science graphics of 2023 and received an honorable mention from the (American) National Association of Science Writers.

He is one of the minds behind works like Neurocomic, a graphic novel in collaboration with Hana Roš. Neurocomic is a journey through the human brain: a place of neuron forests, memory caves and castles of deception. Along the way, you’ll encounter Boschean beasts, giant squid, guitar-playing sea slugs and the great pioneers of Neuroscience. Other of his works include a second graphic novel on the same series, called “The Senses”, and the first Women of Science Tarot deck.

If this spiked your curiosity, check at https://matteofarinella.com/ for more, and join us on Thursday, at 4 pm, via zoom.
