Bio

Hey there! I am Nuno, the PhD student (not to be confused with Nuno, the mastermind)! I am a molecular biologist and computer scientist with a deep interest in the development and improvement of bioinformatics methods to better characterise molecular mechanisms in physiological and disease contexts. During my spare time, I quite enjoy listening to rock and orchestral music, reading about graphic design and science, watching anime and playing JRPGs.

Since I started working on my Master’s thesis, I have been developing psichomics, an interactive R package for transcriptomic analyses of large publicly available datasets. My PhD project is focused on the biogenesis and putative functional roles of circular RNAs and will (hopefully) offer novel insights into RNA biology, including the discovery of new biomarkers for cancer and neurodegeneration.
